Page Monitor – Keyword Alerts is a browser extension that reloads pages you choose and alerts you when a keyword appears or disappears. It is designed to be local-only. This website is a static site: it sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
What the extension accesses
- Page content of tabs you monitor. When you start monitoring a tab, the extension reads that page's text locally in your browser to check whether your keyword is present. This checking happens entirely on your device.
- Settings you create. Refresh intervals, keywords, watch modes, and saved tasks are stored in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device.
What the extension does NOT do
- It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
- It has no server and no backend. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
- It contains no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
- It does not read pages you have not chosen to monitor, and it does not record your browsing history.
- Page text is never copied, stored, or sent off the page being checked; only the result ("keyword found / not found") is used, on your device.
Data storage and deletion
All settings and saved tasks live only in your browser's local storage. Uninstalling the extension, or clearing the extension's storage, deletes them permanently. There is no account and nothing to request deletion from, because nothing ever leaves your device.
Permissions explained
- alarms — schedule page reloads and checks while the browser is running.
- storage — save your settings and tasks locally.
- notifications — show a desktop notification when a keyword appears or disappears.
- tabs — reload the monitored tab, focus it when a keyword hits, and open saved tasks.
- scripting — inject the keyword-checking script into a tab you chose to monitor (including tabs that were already open before installation).
- offscreen — play the alert sound (Chrome MV3 requires an offscreen document for audio).
- Host access (optional, per site) — the extension ships with no access to any website. When you start monitoring a page, it asks Chrome for permission for that one site only. In the same step you may optionally grant access to all sites so you are not asked again elsewhere; that is your choice, never required, and revocable at any time in Chrome's settings. Either way, the extension only ever reads a page after you explicitly start monitoring it.
Payments (Pro, when available)
If you buy Pro in the future, payment is handled by Creem as merchant of record; we do not receive or store your payment-card details. Any optional feature that sends an alert to a webhook or Telegram address you configure will be described here before that version is released, and the destination credentials will be stored only in your browser's local storage.
Changes
If a future version changes any of the above, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the version notes.
